The Role of On-Page Optimization in Making a SEO Campaign Successful
By Pankaj Singh of SRE Global Infotech
A typical Search Engine Optimization (SEO) campaign can be broadly classified into off-page optimization and on-page optimization activities. The success of any optimization campaign heavily depends upon both of them. However, many online marketing professionals put more emphasis on off-page activities that are all about building one-way, two-way (reciprocal), or three-way links for the concerned website, thereby ignoring the importance of on-page factors completely. Irrespective of how many inbound links you build for your website, your SEO campaign will remain incomplete without addressing the potential issues on your site itself. In this article, different on-page factors are carefully looked at for the benefit of novices. As the name suggests, on-page optimization is normally executed on your various web pages and sets the eyes on amending several major site problems. When you have your on-page factors properly addressed, the outcomes are more instantaneous and lasting on the website in comparison to off-page tasks that consume considerable time and effort to show positive consequences. Optimization activities implemented on the web pages generally consider factors like HTML tags, links, navigation structure, loading time, content, images, URLs, etc. Just rectify the problems related to these factors and make your site search engine friendly. It is also essential to stay away from unpopular and unethical black-hat techniques like cloaking (two separate types of content for search engine spiders and users), concealed text or links, and duplicate content at the time of optimizing webpages. Start with optimizing your home page URL and other inner page URLs by placing one of your major keywords in the domain name. Instead of using digits to explain the path to inner pages, you must make use of words with dashes between them. Every significant web page in your site must have a keyword-rich Meta Title and Meta Description. The text specified in those two tags becomes visible to your potential customers in the search results pertaining to your targeted keywords. The description must have the most unique points about your site to induce a click from the prospect. Google displays a page description containing 155 characters nowadays, so write accordingly. Optimize links present in different pages by integrating proper anchor text, making internal linking between pages clutter-free, establishing proper navigation between the home page and all other important pages, and eliminating broken and dead links. Image optimization is another crucial on-page activity. Make use of ALT text or Alternate text to describe each image on your website. You can put keywords in the ALT text for far-reaching benefits. Place original and informative content on major webpages with your targeted keywords. Try to maintain an appropriate keyword density without resorting to excessive use of them. You are free to put synonyms for the keywords to deal with overabundance problem. Other critical on-page optimization activities include HTML validation to prevent errors in the HTML code, the use header, bold and italic tags, incorporation of sitemap for regular indexing of all webpages, and ensuring browser compatibility. You must also make sure that the site consumes less time to get downloaded completely.

Thanks a lot for your comment Frederick. Yea, on page optimization is so important perspective to get better keywords ranking. The concept of on page optimization is so huge. Basically its directly related to the content and internal structure of the website. It involves reducing redundant HTML codes and restructuring the site to produce better linked and focussed page content along with what I discussed in the article.
Yup.. On-page optimization must be properly in place to get rank. The title and the meta description tags are the most important on-page elements.
