Google Instant and Its Probable Effects on Search Engine Optimization
By Pankaj Singh of SRE Global Infotech
Google, the most popular search engine, has constantly lived up to its promise of bringing in innovative concepts, techniques and tools that redefine the online user experience. The latest addition to their growing kitty is Google Instant that was launched only a week ago. But, speculators are already in full swing making innumerable assumptions regarding its future impact on the online search scenario as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) business. Google Instant is starting to roll-out to users on Google domains in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia who use the browsers: Chrome v5/6, Firefox v3, Safari v5 for Mac and Internet Explorer v8. Users on domains other than Google.com can only access Google Instant if they are signed in to a Google Account. If you don't want to see results as you type, you can turn off Google Instant by clicking the link next to the search box on any search results page, or simply by visiting Preferences page. Type Slowly!!!! Google Instance is there. You don’t even have to click “ENTER” to get your results. As a user starts to type a search, Google Instant automatically shows results for a popular search that begins with those letters. We may call "predicted query". Introduction For those who are not yet updated on this latest offering from the house of Google, Google Instant provides you real time search results as soon as you type the first letter in the search box. So, its name has been justified here. Google has reiterated this thing several times before that its major goal is to improve speed a hundredfold. Though it offers results in milliseconds, the user takes several seconds to key in the search query. So, you can say this specific problem has been addressed by it with Google Instant. You can now experience a more pictorial display of your search results with accompanied images. This novel update will certainly bring people closer to their most preferred search engine. But, it is still unknown whether it is going to affect search engine optimization in particular. Era of Short Tail Keywords According to some experts in the Internet marketing, this latest development will have a bearing on the SEO though Google has not made changes to the way it estimates the quality of websites. With this instant feature, users will frequently go after the popular terms Google recommends. Consequently, those terms will be searched more often. So, it is very much likely that users will start selecting a search result even before typing their complete query. This is a word of caution for SEO professionals who will henceforth concentrate more on the short tail keywords in place of long ones. Say Goodbye to 100-Result Preference With Google Instant, you would in all likelihood bid farewell to 100 results in one page set through Google preference. Users will always get 10 results per page at all times. This affirms that people will not be expected to go deep into the search results when they are using this new feature. It seems Google is not very enthusiastic on continuing with that functionality. Achieving the top three rankings for your targeted keywords may be of prime importance for optimization experts from this very moment. More Google Revenues Last but not least, Google Instant may boost the revenues of this search engine through more clicks on sponsored listings since there are chances of users diverting their attention on these paid advertisements. You can now have faster search results, but there will more expenses for the advertisers and tougher for SEO professionals. But, the best online marketing companies are able to see an opportunity in any new difficulty. Will Google Instant Change the Search Results? No, Google Instant will not have any impact on search result or ranking of search engine, but Google Instant will have an impact on how people search and what they search for. Now, we shall have to take care of people mind and searching trend well. You all are welcome to discuss your experience about Google Instant and future prospects for the same.

I haven't noticed Google Instant changing the way that I search yet. My observation is that: 1 Breaking News gets position 1 when appropriate 2 s video result is usually in position 3 - 4 when available 3 Amazon results are in position 10 - 30 4 Twitter is now non-existent My belief is that old time SEO will still be very important but search results will become more dynamic and e.g a run on Twitter / other social media will extricate the keywords and point that surge to an authority site that's posting about the subject
Hi Pankaj, great intel. Everytime Google makes any changes to it's search engine there is speculation on how it will affect SEO. Google has one goal and that is to give relevent results to it's searchers. I don't think that it has changed the way I search. It can be a bit annoying sometimes, but what the hell, you can always turn it off.
Google has alot in store, this is wonderful to have this article its a big credit to them. Thanks for sharing.
Nice article. Though for me it doesn't work on Chrome unless I am signed into a gmail account. I am liking it though.
